Example · Granting agency or research funder
What should we ask across our programme before its next review?
A granting agency compares accessible project assessments to prepare a programme review agenda
The situation
Reviewing a research programme
You are preparing a review of a fictional BCI research programme with projects at different stages. Your team has permission to read their saved assessments. You need to identify questions that deserve a shared discussion while retaining the scientific purpose and evidence limits of each project
What this example starts with
- Available
- Authorized assessment records include project descriptions, sources and assessment dates
- Unresolved
- The records may differ in completeness, study stage and the outcomes they intend to establish
- Constraint
- The review covers a defined programme; public catalogue cases are outside this private comparison set
Working through the question
Select the review population
In Monitor Portfolio, select the accessible records belonging to this review and check the number in view. Record the selection rule and assessment dates. An empty or incomplete selection cannot stand in for the programme, and an account role does not create record access
Compare like questions
Inspect purpose, participants, setting and maturity before interpreting summaries. Separate early feasibility work from later validation work where their questions differ. If one assessment omits a follow-up plan, establish whether that is missing documentation or an unresolved project commitment before grouping it with others
Return to individual evidence
For each apparent recurring question, open the underlying assessments and inspect the supporting material. Retain exceptions that could change the programme discussion. A shared reporting question may be useful even when the projects require different experiments, safeguards or next steps
An illustrative take-away
A programme review agenda
Your agenda separates questions for every team from follow-up needed on particular records
- Which records need updating before comparison?
- What should each team explain about its next evidence milestone?
- Which differences prevent a programme-wide conclusion?

Portfolio patterns depend on selected accessible records; they do not automatically determine renewal, continuation or funding decisions
