Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipation Summit

About the second GESDA Summit

Under GESDA’s vision of “Using the future to build the present”, the second GESDA Summit, from 12 to 14 October 2022, cultivated dialogue on critical future opportunities and risks, complementing the second GESDA Science Breakthrough Radar®, which was disclosed at the event. Its content was used as a starting point for all of the discussions.

This flagship document:

  • takes account of the Debates related to the current challenges humanity has to face
  • assesses Trends in scientific frontier issues along three timeframes (5, 10, and 25 years), providing an easy-to-read mapping of possible breakthroughs.

The 2022 Summit programme aligned with GESDA’s original methodology via the key words “Anticipate, Accelerate, Translate”.

The programme has been developed with engagement in mind. During the various panel sessions, interactive discussions and workshops that took place during the 3-day Summit, both virtual and in-person participants – more than 1000 in total – had the opportunity to contribute by sharing their thoughts and questions with the speakers and broader audience.

Debates with the political world were held on the third day of the Summit with the participation of the Swiss President and several ministers of partner countries.
