Shaping the Future of Science and Diplomacy

About

Established in 2022, the Geneva Science Diplomacy Week is a unique, immersive program designed to equip decision-makers in science, diplomacy and business with the anticipatory knowledge, tools, and networks to navigate the intersection of science, diplomacy, and global governance. Hosted in the multilateral diplomacy hub of International Geneva, this annual event provides a platform for exploring how scientific breakthroughs can be anticipated and leveraged for the benefit of society.

Program highlights

The program immerses participants into the GESDA Anticipatory Situation Room methodology, combining expert-led discussions, simulation exercises, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. Participants will:

  • Engage with science and technology leaders, policymakers, and representatives from international organizations.
  • Learn how to integrate science anticipation into strategic decision-making and global governance.
  • Participate in simulations and “Anticipatory Leadership Labs” to explore the future of multilateralism in a world accelerated by science and technology
  • Gain exclusive access to training materials from the Global Curriculum for Anticipatory Leadership (GCAL) to apply in their respective institutions and regions.

Who is the program for?

The Geneva Science Diplomacy Week brings together leaders from the diplomatic and scientific communities, industry, NGOs and civil society to foster a common understanding of each other’s perspectives and empower them with the knowledge, tools, mindsets and networks to maximize the benefits of emerging science for all humanity.

Applications are invited from across all four GESDA communities — academic, diplomacy, impact, and citizens — and by those who are passionate about shaping the future of science and diplomacy in their respective regions, institutions, or sectors.

Professionals with strategic roles in education, policy-making, and global governance are encouraged to apply, particularly those involved in training and leadership development.
